How to rib stitch

I did a series of how-to knit videos with The Australian Women’s Weekly Books and here is my video tutorial for how to do the rib stich.

Ribbing is simply switching between alternating knit and purl stitches on the same row. Ribbing is often used to make things like collars, cuffs or the rim of a knitted beanie — ribbing makes your knitting a bit tighter and more elastic.

How to cable knit

I did a series of how-to knit videos with The Australian Women’s Weekly Books and here is my video tutorial for cable knitting.

Knitted cables look a lot more tricky than they actually are – cables are simply twists in your work that you make by briefly using a third needle.

I love using cables to embellish projects to make them look extra fancy/cool – a sweater, scarf, hat or mitts can look extra special just by adding in a few cables!

How to knit with multiple colours at once

I did a series of how-to knit videos with The Australian Women’s Weekly Books and here is my video tutorial for Fair Isle/Intarsia/strand knitting.

Strand knitting, Intarsia or Fair Isle knitting, is a technique that allows you to switch between two or more colours in the same row to create patterns in your knitted work. It may seem complex but with a bit of practice you’ll be knitting words and pictures in no time!

Once you really master this technique you can try out my Free David Bowie knitting pattern grid!
